Ever since Clarins discontinued the Gentle Night Cream I have been in the search for a good substitute – a night cream that regenerates my skin over night and leaves me spot free. I can finally announce that I’ve found a good alternative – the Chanel Hydra Beauty Crème. But is it even close to the former favorite? Throughout the review I will compare the Chanel moisturizer with the former favorite.
Application & Result
I have combination skin. All parts except my T-zone area are dry or normal. My T-zone is oily, spot prone and sensitive.
The texture of the Hydra Beauty Crème is a bit thicker than the Clarins Gentle Night Cream. For instance, I can not apply it on dry skin. I apply it straight after cleansing my face while my skin is still moist. It has a scent to it which I’m not very fond of and it’s rather strong. For some, this might be a deal breaker especially if you have sensitive skin. I do not use it during the day since it is way too thick for a daily use – so thick that it gives me a shine. It does not block my pores. I am spot prone and so far I haven’t noticed any increase of spots during my two months of use.
What I absolutely loved about the former Clarins favourite was that it actually made my skin heal faster. This is something that I miss with the Chanel Hydra Beauty Crème. However, it does give me the same amount of moist that the Clarins Gentle Night Cream did and I wake up with glowing healthy looking skin.
The main difference between the Clarins Gentle Night Cream and the Chanel Beauty Crème is that the Chanel one does not feel as oily as the Clarins Gentle Night Cream. It feels more hydrating. This is a preference thing and I actually prefer the oily texture of the discontinued Clarins Gentle Night cream
Summary & Verdict
The Chanel Hydra Beauty Crème is a good night cream for combination skin. I did not find the cream pore blocking and neither too thick for my oily areas. The pricetag it comes with is a bit high. I would have never gotten the product if I wouldn’t have received it as a gift from a dear friend. I will definately keep looking for a product that amazes me as much as the discontinued Clarins Gentle Night Cream and while I do this, I will continue using the Chanel Hydra Beauty Crème until I do find something as good but in a better price range.
