Have you also struggled with finding the perfect moisturizing base that works well in combination with the bareMinerals Original Foundation? One that won’t leave your skin with a shiny finnish or block your pores and give you new spots!?
Not only have I found one that won’t do all these things but, I’ve also discovered that it does wonders for my skin! The best moisturizer to apply underneath the bareMinerals Original Foundation is the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm. Keep reading to find out why!
What makes a perfect base?
I’ve searched a long time for a good moisturizer that works perfectly as a base for mineral makeup. I’ve tried many different ones and I’ve concluded that the following aspects would make a perfect base:
- It should not leave your skin with a shiny finnish after you put your makeup on
- It should aid in keeping the makeup on its place (ideally it should replace the functions of any primer)
- It should moisturize the skin
- It should not block the pores (give you pimples/spots)
- It should dry relatively quick
Application & Result
It seems that I have found one that fulfills all the above points and it is the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm. It moisturizes and tightens my skin instantly which results in a more natural makeup look. I apply a thin layer of the balm onto my face in the mornings (after cleansing of course) without massaging it in (as suggested by the tube). Since the balm is quite thick I prefer to apply it while my skin is still moisty. I wait a few seconds before I apply the mineral makeup. I don’t use any other cream with it. In my case, the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm alone moisturizes my skin enough.
As the day goes by, the balm and the mineral makeup blend in to each other more and more resulting in a flawless natural look by the end of the day. Not what you would expect right!? And I have one more surprise for you! I don’t even have to re-apply my makeup during the day since it does not wear off!
Beauty Flash Balm vs Prime Time Original Foundation Primer
I’ve tried the Prime Time Original Foundation Primer of bareMinerals and it did make my skin more smooth however, I never felt that it made my makeup stick better (rather on the contrary) or look natural, which I feel that the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm does. I believe that the reason for this is that the balm and the primer do not blend properly. By using the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm you can avoid using a primer on top of a moisturizer. Less products –> a cheaper makeup routine!
Summary & Verdict
It comes in a 50 ml tube and you don’t need much of it. I also think that the price is reasonable for the results I get. I highly recommend to try out the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm, especially if the bareMinerals Original Foundation or any other mineral makeup is a part of your daily makeup routine.
