Clarins HydraQuench Cream First Impression Review

I had been wanting to try this cream out for a long time and in January, I finally received a sample! It is supposed to satisfy your needs regardless of the temperature and changes in climate. Too good to be true right!?

The less great facts…

By doing some research I found out that the ingredients used in the HydraQuench Cream can be found in most basic moisturizers, see the end of the page for the list of ingredients. These basic ingredients don’t make up for the price tag the moisturizer comes with.

Another big flaw is that the HydraQuench Cream is scented. This is a big mistake since dry skin often go hand in hand with sensitive skin and we all know that scents don’t always get along with sensitive skin. In addition, the few antioxidants that are present in this cream won’t be stable for long since the jar isn’t air tight – sight!¬†However, if I haven’t scared you off yet and you still want to try it out then keep on reading for some positive info!

The application and result

When I tried it, I had sensitive, spot prone, dry skin. It didn’t break me out at all which is uncommon for me with new products. My skin felt moisturized during half of the day, it even gave me a slight shine the first hours. This was during winter-time and I do believe it’s better suited for the hotter days since I had to re-apply it after four hours. It is a light cream but does not work with bareMinerals original foundation. It literally made my makeup glide off my face. So if you’re not using mineral foundation then you don’t need to worry about this.

The HydraQuench Cream does not satisfy my¬†skins needs because that would mean that it at least contained some exclusive ingredient and had stable packaging. It’s not ideal for every weather since it’s not moisturizing enough during winter time and it does not contain any SPF for the summer. A good makeup base? – not for mineral makeup! Please share your thoughts and if you’d had a different experience compared to mine! Some product work well for some but in my case it didn’t persuade me enough to buy it.
